I’m sure you know the sorry of the ‘Tortoise and the Hare’.
They have a race.
The Hare sprints off, stops for a nap because he’s so far ahead, and then gets overtaken by the Tortoise who’s been plodding along.
Slow and steady wins the race and all that.
The thing is though………
The Hare did finish.
He got to his goal.
A little after the Tortoise, sure.
And slower than he, perhaps, should’ve.
But he got there.
He didn’t completely stop.
Or go backwards.
Or have to restart.
Why It’s Okay to Pause Exercise
A pause is a perfectly fine approach from time to time.
Same with the olde weight loss and fitness journey.
Sometimes we may struggle to make forward progress.
Things get in the way.
We have to pause.
Do we have to go backwards?
Do we have to restart the race, right from the beginning, at some later date?
I think, really, the answer to that is ‘No’.
Remember, when things get tricky, if you need to pause exercise, it’s fine.
Worked for the Hare.
He got there.
And you will too (come to our find-out-more meeting in 5 days if you need to restart and want this to be the last restart. There’s no pressure to sign up, just come and look around RISE in Macclesfield and we’ll answer any questions you have.
Much love,
Jon ‘Today, gone tomorrow’ Hall and Matt
