From the year 2003 Dr. Karl Pillemer from Cornell University spent over ten years discussing the “meaning of life” with more than 1,200 senior citizens.
There were several common themes that came up over and over again.
One of them was ‘worrying’.
With a very high proportion feeling they had spent too much time worrying in the past.
All of these guys had lived through the Second World War and most through The Great Depression.
60 could even remember the Spanish flu pandemic (where one thirtieth of the world’s population died – 250 million people if it was today).
And they all concurred that less time worrying and more time planning for and dealing with what life throws at is is something they wish they’d done more of.
Easier said than done, of course.
But a powerful thing to remember.
Much love,
Jon ‘Golden’ Hall
P.S. The details for the August find out more meeting (for a September start) are up now at myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting. It’s a week early as I’m on holibobs that last week 🙂
