Have you ever eaten or drank in a certain way……..

And then felt that you’ve ‘failed’…….

And done more of the same……..

And felt you “need to start again”?

You know – had some cake and biscuits at work.

Or a big night out.

Or demolished a bottle of wine and tub of Hagan Daz infront of the tele.

Or you’ve missed a workout or two and though “I’ll leave it for this week (or month)”?

You’re in the massive majority if you have.

We get it.

Understandable train of thought.

But, as with a lot of trains of thought, it’s worth questioning.

Ultimately, in all these cases (and many others in life), the problem isn’t what we did…….

It’s what we made it mean.

Over eating by several hundred or a thousand or so calories only equates to fraction of a pound of body fat gained.

A single missed workout makes very little difference in the grand scheme of things.

And both can be easily averaged out over time.

Knocking 10 to 20% off maintenance for the next day or two.

Maybe catch up on the missed workout.

Or minimal difference to the workouts we’d do in a year if we just do the next one as planned and so on.

It’s when we make it mean something else that it has a bigger impact.

When we decide that’s ‘failure’………

That we’ve “been naughty”……….

That “this isn’t for me”……….

And so on.

Remember that next time you do that thing.

The thing probably isn’t that big a deal.

It’s what you could choose to make it mean now that is.

Much love,
