Hopefully you’ve read these blogs for any period of time you’ll know that I “get it”.

I’m not a 23-year-old freshly qualified Fitness Professional who has zero commitments and lives with his mum.

I get the challenges that we all face with making positive changes to our bodies and health……..

Both from over 20 years helping others with it……..

And having many of the same challenges myself.

I’ll put my level of injuries and daily pain up against a good 90% of the population.

I’ve got four kids with challenging logistics spread across two counties.

A busy business and a busy wife.

Life’s hard (I’ll talk tomorrow about this a bit more though).

But one powerful realisation that I made many years ago………

And that is often the difference maker for people that I work with when they make change (because it’s rarely that they became less busy)………

Is that the reasons ‘not to’ are often the reasons ‘to do’.

It doesn’t mean we’ll always be able to do the perfect version.

To be honest, it probably means we can never do the perfect version.

We can choose to change the way we perceive some things along the following lines;

“I’m too busy to exercise” can become “I’m so busy that I need to keep on top of my energy levels and stamina”

“I just got a lot on at the moment” becomes “I need to look after myself because I’ve got so much on at the moment”.

“I can’t do this because of the kids / work / business” can be switched out for “I need to do this because of the kids / work / business”

“I can’t afford it right now” could equally be “I can’t afford not to look after myself as it maximises my income potential and minimises future health costs”.

“It’s not a good time” shifts to “Now is the only time”.

Again, we might not be able to do all that we might like in these areas.

That doesn’t mean that the next answer is nothing.

Let’s not pretend that “All or nothing” is some kind of condition or thing we’re born with and not just a justification.

Next time we’re tempted to, essentially, not look after our body, health, fitness, energy levels and mood……..

Shall we just question if the reasons we’re giving for that aren’t actually the reasons for doing it?

Much love,

Jon ‘d’etre’ Hall

P.S. When you’re ready for actual forward progress now over theoretically better progress constantly deferred……… and you’ve come to the realisation that the reasons ‘not to’ are the reason ‘to do’…….. then the next step that every single one of our hundred of success stories took is to fill in this form —> www.myrise.co.uk/apply
