Last year, as part of their fundraising for the London Marathon, my wife and sister-in-law did an auction event.
Where you could bid to buy various things that had been donated.
Amongst other things, there was a signed Man U shirt.
My two oldest boys pooled all their outstanding birthday and Christmas money and did some extra jobs to be able to get it.
And then, very kindly, were also given a shirt signed by Phil Jones (thanks Steve).
As part of their next birthday presents I said I’d get them both framed.
Which I got around to the other week.
The first one took ages.
Printed the images for the insert in cm rather than inches first time.
Reprinted them to stop any white appearing around the edges.
Reprinted them again and left more paper around the edge to tape it to the frame.
Hung and re-hung the shirt several times to get the positioning of the backboards right and the shirt in the right places with no creases.
Probably spent best part of an hour on that first one.
The second one was done start to finish in under five minutes.
Often the case, isn’t it?
Things are difficult the first time we do them.
Maybe the first few times.
But they quickly get easier.
We get used to doing them.
Figure out the best ways.
It’s the same with changes to our eating.
And to exercise.
Or to tracking our food choices.
New meals are a bit of a faff to start.
After a few attempts we can rustle them up in minutes.
Changing what we buy when food shopping is a
New exercise is confusing and doesn’t feel right.
Few times later and we’re straight into it.
First time using MyFitnessPal is a right pain.
A few days in and it takes seconds to minutes.
You get the idea.
Most things start confusing, time consuming and somewhat annoying.
The only way to make them easier, quicker and a more enjoyable experience…………
Is to do more of them!
Much love,
