I mentioned in last Wednesday’s blog that the wife and I have an electric car now through her work lease scheme.
I’ve got to say, I love it.
Much more powerful than I thought it would be.
Lots of funky new extras compared to the last time we got a new car.
And surprisingly cheap to run.
Instead of displaying efficiency in miles per gallon, like a fuel car would, it shows miles per kilowatt.
As with mpg, the higher the better.
So, I have been experimenting with how to keep that number up.
And, as with any car really, the smoother the drive the better.
Lots of stop – starting negatively affecting the result.
As it does in many areas of our lives.
People when they come to us have generally done a stop – start type approach with their health and fitness.
They’ve gone all-in every January on the run up to a holiday.
Made some significant progress.
But then completely stopped.
Only to regain all the weight and lose all the fitness (and often more).
Often sliding backwards as a whole over the years.
What then changes for them to achieve continued forward progress……..
Isn’t that the things that got in the way before stop getting in the way.
It’s that they become ok with that knowingly sub-optimal but done approach.
Slowing down and speeding up as circumstances dictates.
But keeping going.
A smoother ride.
Imagine your health and fitness journey was like your car’s fuel efficiency.
Sure, they’ll be moments of faster progress.
They’ll be slowing down and speeding up.
But the smoother the ride and the less stopping there is, the better the results.
Much love,
Jon ‘Criminal’ Hall
