I mentioned in yesterday’s blog about how I do most of my work outside of RISE in a wooden box in my basement.

Because that environment helps me do more, better and quicker work.

And I mentioned that a part of that is there being “less distractions”.

Other than check my phone (and I often put it in a drawer) there’s nothing else to do down there other than productive stuff.

And I don’t get what I would elsewhere in the house with other people coming and going.

Or just walking in and starting to talk to me.

Because often what happens when we stop doing something isn’t what we’ve told ourselves.

We’ve not really “lost motivation”.

We’re probably not quite as “busy” as we like to make out.

We’ve often just got distracted.

Where other stuff becomes an option that we’re more tempted by at that point.

Our phones.

TV.

Other people.

Food and drink.

Something fun to do.

We still want to do the thing that we’ve been distracted from.

Just something else has become more tempting at that point.

And minimising how frequently we are exposed to those distractions………..

Will make it more likely that we do the thing that’s important to us.

Much love,

Jon ‘Henry Stickmin’ Hall

P.S. Members often say that their 45 minutes down at RISE is actually a great distraction from the other challenges of life and maybe the only time they get to (and for) themselves —> www.myrise.co.uk/apply
