Much of my early education in exercise came from reading fitness magazines.
And later on the early days of the internet.
Maybe a bit of advice in some of the gyms that I went to.
Ashbourne Leisure Centre and Darren’s gym on the Airfield Industrial Park represent.
But for the majority of people who were joining gyms back then, they had little to no idea what to actually do.
30 minute gym induction showing them a few machines.
Not really setting them up for long-term success.
There was some quality support back then, sure.
Relatively few and far between.
Nowadays the internet is awash with quality information.
It’s never been more accessible.
Most gyms have a number of knowledgeable and helpful Personal Trainers and Instructors.
From my own observations, young people now know infinitely more about exercise and healthy living than my mates and I did at the same age.
Now, it’s a shame that the average person has gotten fatter, lower in energy and less healthy over the same time frame (www.myrise.co.uk/apply if that rings any bells)
But that’s a different story for a different day.
In the last 23 years, I have seen an increase in the amount quality support available.
Much love,
Jon ‘Street’ Hall
