You may have seen that my eldest son has launched a clothing brand.

If you haven’t, you might want to go and check it out at www.oxhclothing.co.uk.

It’s all his own doing

But, of course, I’ve been helping with him with some things he’s been unsure about.

And talking to him about the best way to generate sales.

I explained a marketing concept to him the other day.

Know, like and trust.

In order for people to buy from you, they need to, obviously, know who you are.

They need to like you, to at least a sufficient degree.

And they need to trust that you’ll deliver what you’re saying that you will.

If any of these components are missing, we’re much more unlikely to have a sufficient relationship to make a sale.

I further explained that that’s something that I’m conscious of in the way I market RISE.

And I came to a realisation.

The reason, often, that people might not invest in our RISE Together Programme……….

Is not that they don’t know who we are, like us or trust that we’ll deliver……..

It’s that they don’t like and / or trust themselves.

We’ve tried vaguely similar things before and not stuck with it.

There’s that concern that this might be yet another thing that doesn’t work out for us.

Another waste of money.

And all those attempts to make changes that haven’t happened in the past………

Can erode away at how much we like ourselves.

I get that.

Many Fitness Professionals are quick to forget the areas of their life that haven’t always gone quite how they’d like.

Always loving exercise and finding it relatively easy……..

Doesn’t mean they’ve nailed every single thing they’ve ever tried to do.

It doesn’t mean they haven’t lost confidence in their ability in some areas.

It doesn’t mean they don’t always trust themselves in certain circumstances.

We all have areas like that.

So, what’s the answer?

If we don’t trust in our own abilities to do something (or the likelihood of us actually doing it), how can we change that?

From my experience, trust in ourselves comes from doing what we said we would.

And that building and compounding over time.

Which is why so many of our attempts are doomed to failure.

We aim for a version that’s just as difficult to as last time we didn’t manage it, if not more so.

We alternate between trying to exercise several times a week and eat like an athlete to not exercising at all and eating terribly.

Back and forth between the two.

Mostly the latter really.

Going for knowingly suboptimal approach that we feel we can definitely do………

And building on that over time……..

Is where that trust in ourselves will come.

One workout per week and calorie maintenance will get better results then no exercise at all at eating in a surplus.

It might not sound quite as sexy………

But it feels much more doable, doesn’t it?

Maybe even just an agreement to stay engaged?

Touch Base and set a RISE Plan each week if you’re a member.

Setting an intent for the week that’s more than doable whatever the circumstances, will always lead to better results than “Leaving it till next week”.

If you don’t fully trust that you’re going to do something………

Set an intention for a knowingly suboptimal version of that……..

Something still worthwhile, but that will take us in the right direction……..

But is definitely doable……..

And just do that.

Much love,

Jon ‘BLT’ Hall

P.S. I’m going to cover tomorrow how you might not know yourself quite as well as you think!

P.P.S. Come on, what are you actually waiting for? If it’s “the New Year”, that doesn’t have to be a reason. We have two weeks extra free on our 4 Week Transformation programme that takes care of that. So, you can get to January having enjoyed the season even more (because energy levels and mood are up) and have less to do to get to your goals. Or not. Your call. Enter your details to apply at www.myrise.co.uk/apply if you like the sound of the former!
