If you’re a Facebook friend of mine, you may have seen that I occasionally post anonymised screen grabs of some of the less than positive comments we get on social media posts, YouTube videos, etc.

The vast majority of the comments we get are lovely, but a few not so much.

Criticising what we’re saying on those posts / videos and generally how we operate.

Essentially saying we should do things differently because they don’t like it.

Whilst we don’t get them all that often compared to the nicer posts, they’ve added up to a reasonable number over a decade.

And we’ve had a number of people join, stop coming pretty quickly and then “made some suggestions” as to how we should do things differently.

Again, not many in the grand scheme of things.

But a number over the years.

And that’s all cool.

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion.

But, there’s always been one thing in common with every single person who’s told me how they think I should run my business.

None of them run a successful fitness business of their own.

There’s been a fair number of unsuccessful FitPros along the way (commenting on the posts particularly).

No successful ones though, as far as I can see.

And success rate can be an invaluable consideration in choosing whose opinion to listen to.

It’s impossible to follow every suggestion or opinion we will ever hear as many are contradictory.

That’s why so many people end up confused about what to do in order to lose weight or get fitter and healthier.

Most things you’ll be told don’t have much weight of evidence behind them.

It seems to have worked for Maureen at work’s dog walker’s, cousin’s, tennis partner’s friend.

Or we’ll see a picture online of one person who professes that that approach is what got them in shape.

——- Although it’s not uncommon that they haven’t used that thing at all and have just been paid to advertise it, having gotten in shape a different way ———-

To me, these things we hear are too small a sample size and too imprecise to hold any weight.

If we’re going to be selective about who we listen to, I’d recommend listening to people that have a proven track record of at least dozens, if not, hundreds of verifiable success stories.

Cough *** us *** cough.

Just like I’m very selective about who I listen to in terms of running a fitness business………

You can be in terms of who you listen to for things related to making positive changes to your life and body.

Much love,
