💡💡💡
We’ve mentioned before that members do leave us each month.
Every gym or independent facility does.
We’re just willing to admit it.
Many places claim to have “very few people leave”.
But still have the same number of members years later despite clearly taking on new members.
Our retention is considerably above average.
But it’ll never be 100%.
Amazingly, we’ve had less leavers this year than normal.
But, with not being in the club for nearly half the year, we’ve had considerably less joiners too.
Some of whom would’ve left since, increasing that total number of leavers.
People leave for a variety of reasons.
Some unavoidable logistical ones – work, relocation, etc.
For many it boils down to not getting the results they’d like.
Sure, money is always a consideration.
But it’s way less of a factor when the results make it a worthwhile investment in their head.
Often when people leave there has been a preceding period of ‘disengagement’.
“I’m not coming enough” or “I’m not using it enough” to justify the investment.
So they’ll go for something cheaper.
Or, possibly, nothing.
And I get that.
We all have a finite amount of money and want to make sure we’re getting our “money’s worth”.
The thing is though, if something is cheaper, it will nearly always be “less”.
There’ll be less support.
Less systems in place to help.
Probably just renting access to equipment.
Or random workout sessions and nothing more.
And there’s nothing wrong with that as such.
But, the chances are, if someone hasn’t been responding as they’d like to ‘more’……….
They’re unlikely to respond to ‘less’.
Sadly, we see it time and time again.
People leave saying things like “I think I’m just going to join the local gym” or “go back to my slimming club”.
And six months later we see on Facebook that they’ve regained all the weight they lost with us.
And then some.
So, if you’re a member, have become a bit disengaged and aren’t getting the results you’d like……….
And are, perhaps, tempted to try something (probably) cheaper.
We get it.
But, is it worth questioning if that’s really going to lead to better results?
If you haven’t checked us out already and like the sound of somewhere that actually does results (rather than just renting access to equipment), check out our next find out more meeting for the RISE Together Programme (myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting) or, if you’re not in or near Macclesfield, the RISE @ Home Programme (myrise.co.uk/RISEatHome).
Much love,
