I’m currently sat in the Peak District Business Hub.

With my eldest son working in Manchester as part of his gap year, I’m back to doing all the Bakewell school runs for my middle son.

And, with the Cat and Fiddle being closed for several months, it takes the best part of an hour to go the long way round.

So I’m planning on spending most Thursdays here – saves me a couple of hours and nearly covers the day pass in fuel savings.

I’ve probably been here half a dozen times over the last year or so when staying around this way made more sense than coming back to Macc.

I’ve noticed they’ve recently stopped the free biscuits.

The guy opposite me has noticed too as he’s mentioned it a few times.

I’m sure no one would comment on the lack of biscuits if they’d never had them.

But I’m also sure the biscuits will be forgotten fairly soon.

Things quickly become our new normal.

In both directions.

We forget that we used to feel so much better and just think this is how we’re supposed to feel.

Lower energy and mood gradually just become ‘how I feel’.

And I’ve known many people join RISE when they were absolutely miserable and hated how they looked.

Got to pretty happy with both then stopped.

The problem that motivated them had gone, so eventually the thing that helped get rid of it didn’t feel as important.

Only to slip backwards and often rejoin having to ‘start again’.

Normal is just what we’ve got used to.

Sometimes our normal is somewhere we want to leave.

Sometimes it’s somewhere worth staying.

Much love,

Jon ‘Bob Odenkirk’ Hall

P.S. If you’re not happy with your current normal, I’m really good at helping people change that —> www.myrise.co.uk/apply
