You may have seen on some of the videos on our Facebook page that I’m currently exercising in our basement.

It’s fine like.

But it’s no RISE.

I’ve tidied it and sorted it as much as I can.

But it’s still full of boxes of stuff and general bits and bobs.

The blog image is my view when I’m sat on my bench.

You can see the dumbbells and slam balls on the floor.

And above them a box.

I was looking at said box the other day.

While resting between sets.

As you can just see it has writing on it.

“This way up” with accompanying arrows.

And tick boxes to show which room the contents belong in.

It’s left over from when we moved house.

Super simple.

No writing notes here and there to remind the removal men which way to stack and carry it and where it goes.

No “trying to remember”.

No “trying harder” to do it in the ‘right way’.

Just a simple system to remove the need for memory, effort, willpower, etc.

Sorted once and that problem all but eliminated.

The removal men still have to do it, of course.

But it makes it way more likely that things won’t get packed the wrong way up or put in the wrong room.

We probably have equivalent things we can do in our lives.

Little systems we can put in place.

Reminders of some sort.

Clear intentions set of when things will happen and how.

Which of these is more likely to happen?

“I’ll try and get some exercise in this week”.

Or;

“I’ve booked in to the GTP: Live Sessions at 6pm on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and downloaded the calendar events to my phone to remind me”

Marginally more effort, in the second one, of course.

But only a minute or so more.

Or, how about;

“I’m going to try and eat better this week”

Versus;

“On Sunday nights, after tea, I take twenty minutes to put a bit of a plan together for some or all of the week’s meals and do an online food delivery order”.

You get the point.

They’ll be an equivalent of “This way up” and the room tick boxes.

Something pretty quick and easy you can put in place so that, when it comes time, that better choice is much more likely to be made.

Much love,
