So, we’re now less than 11 months to Christmas.
My sister, bless her, will have probably already started her present shopping.
I used to be pretty good and getting organised for Santa’s visit, but I had poor run of form last year.
For various reasons, I didn’t really ‘get on it’ with getting sorted.
Usually I spend a few hours on the internet a few weeks before the big day and get everything ordered.
By leaving it to the last minute this year I missed a lot of the ‘last order dates’ and had to spend time trudging round the shops.
So, by leaving it till the last minute, it ended up being more effort than if I’d prepped ahead of time.
You’ve probably guessed where I’m going with this now.
Planning ahead is one thing that we find that, when our ninjas get their heads around it, is actually a big time saver.
Eating healthily can be quicker and easier than eating unhealthily.
If we wait till we’re hungry, the easiest option available is usually not good.
It’s the work canteen, the vending machine, the garage, the sandwich or coffee shop, the snack bar in the cupboard, etc.
If we spend half an hour or so when we have a bit of time (Sunday night is often good) prepping food for the days we know we’ll need it (batch cooking) then we can save time come meal time.
If we plan our weekly shop around the meals we’ll know we need, we can save time.
5 minutes on breakfast, 10-20 on lunch (including going to get it) and similar on tea can become 3 lots of half an hour to an hour.
5 ½ hours on food prep per week becomes 1 ½ – 3 in this case.
It’s just a case of putting that time in ahead of time, not waiting till the last minute.
Much love,
