Modern day fitness marketing is all about doing it like the pros.
“Train like an athlete”
Or just referring to their members as athletes.
“Eat like a nutritionist”
What do most people think when they see that?
“No thanks”
Training like an athlete sounds like hours of hard workouts every day.
We’ve read INSERT ATHLETES AUTOBIOGRAPHY and it didn’t sound like something we fancy doing, did it?
Eating like a nutritionist sounds like chicken and broccoli all day every day.
## I’m not saying that’s what nutritionists eat, just how most people interpret that ##
It all seems an awful lot of effort for the result we want.
We get the idea.
It’s about using the smartest approaches.
Getting the most ‘bang for your buck’.
But it doesn’t appeal to most.
“Workout like someone who’s always hated exercise but has found a way that they enjoy a surprising amount” is more what we do.
“Eat like someone who loves their food and drink but has got a balance that helps them keep the weight off” sounds more like it.
Use the smartest approaches, sure.
And I’d like to think that we do.
## And, in the biggest irony, we actually have some athletes here. Alan and Vikki won their categories in the European Championships in power-lifting in Helsinki this Monday, joining Amanda in the Worlds. Irvin boxes professionally. I was a professional wrestler for 11 1/2 years. But don’t let any of this put you off 🙂 ##
