I’ve talked for many years about how the words we use drive our thoughts.
Which drive, in turn, our actions and behaviours.
Which drive the results they bring and the habits they create.
And how changing the words we use can have a disproportionate knock on benefit.
A small change for small change in results is a great deal.
A small change that can drive bigger results even more so.
How we change what we say can’t feel “fake”.
“Forced”.
“Made up”.
There’s no point saying things we don’t really believe.
But if we can find a different way of describing things that we believe enough?
That shows, at least, signs of becoming true?
Then why not?
Here’s an easy swap.
Next time you’re describing something as being “hard” or “difficult”……….
Try swapping that with “new”.
Because, chances are, most things we do pretty comfortably now, were much more difficult when they were new.
We acclimatised to changes in our work and personal life.
Things that once took an amount of effort become, over time, comfortable.
So who’s to say the thing you’re struggling with now won’t be the same?
It probably will.
Simple swap – “hard” or “difficult” for “new”.
And see how that changes how you approach it.
