Voltaire?
Roosevelt?
Churchill?
Turns out it was Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben in Spiderman.

Brilliant quote.
For Spiderman and his powerful ilk.
But for us everyday folk?
I like the reverse.
With great responsibility comes great power.
The more responsibility we take for our choices and actions………
The more power we have to change them and to shape our future.
It’s easy to purely blame external factors.
Human nature.
We find ourselves doing it.
And those external factors are, of course, still relevant.
We can’t just pretend they don’t exist.
Work, family, other commitments, injuries, illness and other challenges do make it harder to do the things we may want to or feel we should.
It would be daft to say otherwise.
But only to a point.
If someone hasn’t exercised in a month, can that just be down to those external factors?
They genuinely couldn’t have, if their life depended on it, have done 30 minutes of exercise out of those 40,000+ minutes?
Same with eating.
Most of the time we are in complete control of what we buy and eat.
Not always, sure.
But mostly.
Doesn’t mean it’s easy to make those other decisions.
Far from it, sometimes!
But when, as much as possible, we remove these external factors………
And take that great responsibility………
That great power, and the results that come with it, become ours 🙂
