Imagine that you’re a mechanic.

You may not need to imagine.

Somebody brings their car into the garage.

They tell you that there’s a problem with the engine.

“The car is using more fuel than my wife’s” they say.

You have a quick look at both cars and immediately identify what’s happened.

One car is considerably bigger than the other.

And it does more miles.

Nothing wrong with the engine.

It just uses more fuel because it’s moved something bigger further.

Same thing when people blame “metabolism”.

If somebody else is bigger and / or more active than us….

Then they’ll need more energy (from food).

That’s not metabolism at work.

It’s a difference in size and activity levels.

When you match people for size and activity, the difference is tiny – up to about 80 calories a day.

And it may even be that most of that is explainable through the limitations of our ability to assess the difference in body composition of weight matched people.

At the end of the day, your body needs what it needs.

Some just to keep you alive and ticking.

And an extra amount for how much it moves.

We can change that bit, of course.

And that number is what it is.

We can just then choose how much “fuel” we put in to work around that (if you want help figuring that out – and actually making it work – we can help –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply)

Much love,
