People sometimes ask me “Don’t you ever treat yourself?”
And I get what they mean.
They mean don’t I ever decide to eat a particular food, probably to excess, as some sort of reward for something I’ve done.
Which, if you Google the definition of the word “treat”, is actually the second description that comes up.
It’s the noun version of the word treat.
“an event or item that is out of the ordinary and gives great pleasure”
Now I would question if it’s really a “treat” if it’s something that we do fairly frequently.
But that’s a separate conversation.
What we could choose to do instead is to look at the first definition of treat.
Where it’s a verb.
“behave towards or deal with in a certain way”
Which I would say I do all the time.
I treat myself pretty well.
I behave nicely towards myself the majority of the time.
I give my body and my mind what makes it feel usually between ok and good.
Because I know that too much of the things that could be considered as treats will do the opposite.
They’ll make me feel worse, mentally and physically.
Which is not treating myself well.
None of this is to say that I don’t eat cake, biscuits or take out
Or that I don’t drink alcohol.
But not to a degree that would make me feel worse overall.
Because that would be mistreating myself.
So, next time you’re considering a treat…….
We could ask firstly if the frequency of it actually makes it a treat………
And, more importantly, if we benefit from using the verb of the word treat rather than the noun.
And just treat ourselves well (I can guarantee, with an actual Money Back Guarantee, that the thing you can do to treat yourself the best this month or year begins by clicking this link and filling in the form –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply) .
Much love,
