For the last few Christmases we’ve greatly enjoyed doing the school quiz from my step-daughter’s school.
250 questions on a variety of topics.
It’s designed to be something fun to do with the people you see over the festive period – charge them two answers for a mince pie and three for a drink.
The last couple of years we didn’t get round to handing the form in in time.
This year we did.
And we were pretty happy with it – not many of the questions we didn’t have an answer for and intelligent(ish) guesses for those we weren’t sure about (no googling is a rule).
The other day we got the results back.
We came last.
By quiet a gap.
Twenty points in it from 1st to 22nd.
Then another thirty points to us in 23rd.
At first I was somewhat disappointed.
Until we realised that there was only 23 entries.
Out of how ever many hundreds of families.
So we actually came 23rd out of several hundred.
A parallel for your results.
Now it’s not a competition per se………
But if you gained a couple of pounds over Christmas………..
You beat the many millions who gained over 10.
When you lose any weight, you’re ahead of the overwhelming majority who are gaining it.
When you do a bit of “meh” workout you are doing better than the 90% of the population who haven’t been to the gym in the last month.
When you just take part, you’re doing more than all those that don’t.
Just keep turning up (or start if you haven’t been at all –>

Just because you might not ‘win’ (and which of us will really?), doesn’t mean taking part isn’t worthwhile 🙂
