I don’t know if it’s still the case, but I remember those glossy magazines I used to see in hairdressers in the 80s and 90s often having headlines about ‘having it all’.
They may still do I suppose, I just don’t go the hairdressers with my mum any more.
It was definitely a ‘thing’, I’m sure.
Aimed, in this case, at women being able to have children, careers, great relationships with their husbands, time with their friends and whatever else was defined as ‘all’.
But, in general, ‘having it all’ was a thing people talked about.
Still do I’m sure.
It’s a double edged sword though.
I like the general idea of not putting up with things you’re not happy with.
Of trying to get all aspects of your life to a point that you are, at least content, with.
But, sometimes things are mutually exclusive.
And when we try and ‘have it all’ we end up with just one.
Or maybe neither.
We can’t eat our body weight in cake and biscuits every day and have the body we desire.
Doesn’t mean we can’t have them at all (not all or nothing, remember).
We can have some cake and biscuits and a body were happy with.
But not too much.
———— You can substitute cake and biscuits for anything there really ————
Whilst we are all for making exercise as quick and effective (and fun) as possible (find out more meeting tonight if you like the sound of that –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting), it still takes time.
Time you might spend doing something else.
Maybe something you’d actually rather do.
Again, doesn’t mean you can never do whatever those other things are, but you’d perhaps have to do less.
We can have a good balance of things.
But we can’t have it all.
Sometimes we have to decide what we’re willing to give up (if only temporarily).
Find a compromise that we’re happy with.
Rather than ending up with one, at most.
Much love,
