The other week we got a letter in the post.

Telling us that our water may be off between 5 and 8pm last Wednesday.

As maintenance work was being carried out.

And telling us to not use our water during that time.

To fill up some bowls and pans for what we need.

Which we did.

And we briefed the kids not to use the taps.

Which, lo and behold, they did.

Repeatedly.

Every few minutes.

And so did we.

Several times I’d tell them not to use the tap………..

Then immediately used it myself.

Realising the second the water hit my hands.

It made me realise a few things.

Firstly, I would never have guessed how frequently we used the taps.

Must add up to hundreds of times a day between us.

Like times we put things in our mouth.

Between all the bites of a meal………….

Of snacks…………..

Of sips of drinks…………

It adds up to hundreds of times per day.

Don’t believe me?

Try noting every single time something (non rude) goes into your mouth for 24 hours.

I did once.

You’ll be surprised.

Easy to see how it can be ‘over done’.

150 things might have been just right.

200 puts us into a 33% surplus.

But, also easy to see the solution doesn’t have to be all that difficult.

We don’t need to eat like a monk or a rabbit.

150 things per day is still plenty.

Make a few tactical swaps and it can still be 200.

Or more.

It also shows something else too.

But I’ll save that for tomorrow……………

Much love,
