I mentioned in yesterday’s blog that I’ve achieved significant **weight loss success**, dropping about a stone in the last month or so.
The previous few months, I had merely been intending to make slight adjustments with the goal of shedding weight more steadily.
And it hadn’t been happening.
For a few reasons.
Firstly, the changes that need to be made for slower progress are obviously smaller changes from our norm.
And, therefore, quite easy to misjudge.
Reducing food by 10% without precise measurement can easily end up being the same amount of food or 10% more.
Intending to halve out consumption will definitely lead to a pretty reasonable decrease.
And it’s much easier to get motivated when you’re seeing relatively quick results.
Losing half a pound a week is great, obviously.
But it’s very tempting to lose enthusiasm for it.
When the weight is coming off much quicker, it’s much easier to stay enthused and engaged in the process.
There’s lots of research that shows that relatively quick progress followed by a transition into something longer term is what actually has the highest success rate.
When people say that “you don’t want to lose weight too fast,” what they actually mean is you don’t want to lose weight fast, go back to old habits, and then regain it (and more).
There’s nothing wrong with losing weight fast and then keeping it off, surely?
As always, there’s no right or wrong.
As long as we’re not doing anything silly that could damage our health, it’s about finding the approach that works best for us.
Being aware of the pros and cons of (and other considerations around) different methods and what people actually mean when they criticize them.
Being aware of the boxes that need to be ticked to create the results that you’re after…
And then choosing the approach to ticking those boxes that you will actually do (you’re way more likely to do this than lone wolfing it —-> www.myrise.co.uk/)
