💡💡💡

Two weeks ago today gyms reopened.

Whilst everyone knows we’re not really a “gym” as such, we do fall under that category.

A gym, of course, is where you rent access to equipment and no one knows or cares if you’re going, know what you’re doing or getting results.

Anyway, we were back in person.

Not “open again” because we never “closed” – just went solely online for a bit.

We’re really pleased with how it’s gone so far.

Some are staying solely online, some just in club, many a mixture.

But numbers are where they need to be – you know, to cover all the costs, etc.

From talking to friends in the Fitness Industry, that isn’t the case across the board.

Many have been “waiting till April 12th” in the hope that people will come “flooding back”.

“Hoping things will get back to normal”.

And some will.

But some won’t.

Some have since decided that they’re happy with home workouts, running, etc.

Some aren’t quite “there yet”.

Most FitPros I know have been really disappointed with uptake these last couple of weeks after hoping April 12th would be the answer.

Waiting and hoping is not a strategy.

It rarely leads to the desired outcome.

I know the club being where is needs to be isn’t a result of what happened on April 12th.

It’s a result of the work we put in a month or six or twelve ago.

And our health and fitness goals are the same.

In all areas of life, we have lead indicators and lag indicators.

Lag indicators are the stuff that comes with time.

People joining, weight loss, increased strength, fitness, energy levels, etc.

Lead indicators are the processes that we do to get there.

Facebook ads, YouTube ads, Google ads, Organic posts, live videos, sharing member successes, Daily blogs, personal messages, video messages and much more.

Or workouts, better food choices, sleep related changes and so on.

Each lead indicator doesn’t seem to do much in isolation.

And it’s hard to see much direct correlation.

It can easily “feel like it’s not working”.

But, over time, they add up to these lag indicators.

The delayed result.

Member numbers at RISE aren’t a result of what we did on April 12th, but what we were doing one, six or twelve months ago.

Our body and energy levels aren’t the result of the workout we did yesterday and the better food choice we make today, but what we were doing one, six or twelve months ago.

Always worth remembering when we’re tempted to get discouraged with what we’re doing today – it’s not part of today’s results, but compounding towards those future lag indicators.

Much love,
