Long term readers will know that until recently I had gone for two years ‘sans TV’ as the French would say (maybe).

But I moved in the with my girlfriend Alex in June.

And whilst that was great, her TV came as part of the package.

It was easy to stop the kids watching loads of TV before.

Because there wasn’t one in the house.

But now they just walk in and pick up the remote.

Or sit there going “TV please, TV please, TV please”.

I don’t let them watch much but one programme that Jamie particularly likes is ‘Bob The Builder’.

I’m not a massive Bob fan, but his main catch phrase is something we can all learn from.

I’ve never been a massive fan of the traditional ‘positive affirmation’.

You know, just telling yourself “I can do this”.

It’s mile better than telling yourself you can’t.

But it often feels like an empty saying.

Asking yourself if you can do the specific thing infront of you, then giving yourself an honest answer is a much more powerful method.

You know – “Can we fix this? Yes we can”.

Or “Am I physically able to set my alarm 5 minutes earlier and have a healthy breakfast? Of course”

Or “Do I have it in me to do some exercise today? Too right I do brain”

Or “Am I tough enough to say no to the cake I will be offered today? Of course I am – I’m no wimp”

You get the idea.

Ask yourself a specific question about your ability to do the thing infront of you and your answer will enable you.

I still get nervous when I have a match or present in front of groups of people.

I ask “Can I do this?”

And answer “Of course, you’ve done it loads of times before”.

Boom!!!!!!!

Alex’s (my girlfriend, not the one on the email series and before and after photos) Grandma recently said something about a bike ride which made me think more about what we need to do to change our habits.

I’ll cover that and a lot of the eerie similarities between mine and Alex’s families tomorrow.

Much love,
