We’ve had several conversations with people recently about FOMO.

You know – Fear Of Missing Out.

In relation to them going out socialising, drinking, eating excessively and so on.

Stuff that we can do much more from this week again.

People don’t want to “miss out” on stuff.

Which we get.

The thing is though, we always miss out on stuff.

All day every day.

It’s impossible to do everything.

If anything we “miss out” on more stuff than we do by a long way.

Most of that would be stuff we’re not bothered about.

But every choice we ever make has an implication.

An opportunity cost.

Something else we could’ve done.

The path not followed.

Every Yes to one thing is a No to another.

One door opened is another door closed.

So we’re always going to miss out.

It’s about deciding on what we’re willing to miss out on.

And what we’ll be adding in instead.

How many people do you think look back on their death bed and feel they “missed out” on more cake, alcohol, etc?

Not many I wouldn’t have thought.

How many look back and feel they “missed out” on the life they would’ve liked to have lived because they didn’t get a hang on their body, energy levels and mood?

A fair number.

It doesn’t mean we can’t go out and socialise of course.

Or never eat and drink certain things.

But can we do that in a way that still allows us the body we like the look and feel of?

We know the answer to that is yes, don’t we?

Much love,
