Go on, what’s better than perfect?

I would say “it’s not a trick question”………..

But it kinda is.

‘Done’ is the answer.

‘Perfect’ is a nice to know about.

A North Star to set our compass to, perhaps.

But how often does it happen?

Over how many weeks of our lives have we eaten ‘perfectly’ (however we may define that)?

How many weeks have we done all the exercise we possibly could have and given it our all each time?

How many times have we got 8 hours sleep for 7 nights in a row?

Drank the ‘ideal’ amount of water?

I don’t know if I ever have.

And I “do this for a living”.

When we aim for perfection, we’re probably setting ourselves up for disappointment.

A feeling of “failing” pretty early on.

When a day or so in and it now can’t happen.

And we’re tempted to “leave it” till next week / month.

The mediocre workout or two beats the five perfect ones that didn’t happen.

The “better than it could’ve been” beats the perfect week of eating that didn’t happen.

A bit more water or sleep or meditation or anything else beats that perfect version we didn’t end up doing.

Done > perfect.

And the irony is that, by getting some done………..

We’re probably going to end up closer to ‘perfect’ than when we were aiming for perfect itself 🙂

Much love,
