💡💡💡

Whatever our goal in life, it’s rarely a completely straight line.

Whether it’s to lose weight, get fitter, earn more money, learn a new skill, improve a relationship or anything else.

We don’t usually start where we are now……….

Then go towards where we’d like to be………

At the same speed all the way……….

No deviations.

Progress is normally more of a wiggly line.

Maybe two steps forward, one step back.

Veer off course, straighten up a bit and repeat.

But what we don’t want to happen is it be one step forward, two steps back.

Or we’ve veered a “bit too far” off course.

We need something to let us know when that’s happened.

Like rumble strips on a motorway.

An unmissable reminder that we’ve veered a bit too much.

Something that makes it really clear we need to course correct a bit.

Something that doesn’t just rely on us ‘remembering’.

But, instead, gently reminds us.

No right or wrong.

It might be a certain weight.

A certain tightness of clothing.

Something physical being a certain amount of effort – going up stairs, walking into town, playing a game of sport, etc.

We notice we’re starting to feel a certain way.

Annoyed, irritated, angry.

A certain number of days since our last workout.

Getting down to zero workouts “in the diary” (we can always have our next one or more scheduled, no matter what’s going on).

Some tracking of some sort (food, steps, sleep) and a weekly target we can see we’re veering away from and could pull back towards.

Again, no right or wrong.

But, what’s your ‘rumble strip’?

Much love,
