I talked yesterday about how “never looking back” isn’t going to happen.
We can just choose how we do it.
And comparing ourselves to others is the same.
It’s going to happen, whatever people say.
Human nature.
We can do it unskilfully in a way that makes us just feel bad.
Or we can do it skilfully.
Look at how people who we perceive to be similar to us have achieved results that we desire.
Don’t beat ourselves up over that perceived “gap”.
Just learn how we can narrow it.
Comparing our body to someone 20 years our junior who lives with their mum and gets paid to look that way won’t help us.
Looking at how other busy people our age with similar challenges have made changes to help them get in better shape can help.
Getting an idea of what’s possible for us only ever comes from skillfully comparing ourselves to others.
Without that how would we know if we were being a good parent, doing well at work or anything else that’s important to us?
We’re going to compare ourselves to others, it’s impossible to not
We can just choose if we do it skilfully or not.
Much love,
Jon ‘It’s been seven hours and 15 days’ Hall
