We’ve talked before about one of the most powerful things we can do is to work on our acceptance.

Arguing with reality drains and dispirits us.

Accepting what just is, leaves us with energy and enthusiasm to work on what we can change.

One thing that we don’t always accept is that life isn’t easy.

We feel “it should be” easier than it is.

And that resistance to that, maybe, means we don’t pick our battles as well as we could do.

Life is always full of challenges.

Avoiding one challenge just creates a different one.

All we can do is pick which challenges we approach.

We can pick challenges that inspire, motivate and energize us.

Or we can be left with challenge that demotivates and drains us.

A comfortable life doesn’t exist.

I’ve heard it said that you can “pick your hard”.

Getting in shape is hard.

But so is having a body you don’t like the look and feel of.

Being healthy is hard.

But so is being unhealthy.

Having a good relationship is hard.

But so is having a bad one.

Running a successful business or doing well at work is hard.

But being broke and / or feeling unfulfilled is hard.

We don’t get to choose if it’s hard or not.

We don’t get to choose if there are challenges or not.

Telling ourselves that “it shouldn’t be like this” is just arguing with reality.

We can, at best, choose our challenges.

Those that demotivate us and rob us of energy and enthusiasm.

Or those that inspire and energize us.
