Imagine you have to do 110m of hurdles.
Never 100m is it?
But you have two options.
In each the average height of the hurdles is the same.
In option one they start small and get bigger.
In the other they start big and get smaller.
We’re talking tiny little ones up to massive ones you have to climb over.
And vice versa.
Which one would you pick?
I’d wager you’d go for big to small.
Get the harder ones out of the way while your energy is up.
Gets easier as you go.
If you went for the other one……..
Well, thanks a lot pal.
You’ve ruined my point ๐
Changing habits is a bit like the big to small hurdles.
Starts harder and gets easier.
Every time you do it it will be a fraction easier than the last time.
Until, eventually, it’s a new habit.
Something you just do.
The problem is we often can’t see over those big hurdles.
We just feel there’s all these massive walls in our way.
We forget it’s going to get easier.
And think it’s going to be this hard forever.
And end up wandering off the track.
You have my word though.
It does get easier every time.
Do it this time.
Whatever it is (for many, it’s this first step to getting involved with what we do –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting).
A workout, a better food choice, etc.
Wasn’t too bad in the end was it?
Next time will be a fraction easier.
And so on.
Don’t forget that.
And keep going ๐
Much love,
Jon ‘Sally’ Hall and Matt ‘Colin’ Nicholson
P.S. Pretty easy middle names there – a point for both.
P.P.S. Friday’s middle names – Richard O’Brien used to host the Crystal Maze on TV and Gordon Ramsey has a restaurant called The Maze ๐
