I talked yesterday about accountability.

Which, ultimately, is putting in place a consequence to us doing or not doing the thing that we said we would do.

And at the end I questioned why we wouldn’t want to do that thing.

From my experience, at least part of that, is how we frame those things in our head.

Often framing them in a way that is particularly unappealing.

If I said to you “Would you like to give me £300 to sit in a pressurised metal container for a few hours and be fed some basic food on a plastic tray?”, what would you say?

“No thanks” presumably?

How about if I offered to fly you to the Caribbean for a lovely, sunny holiday?

Same thing, just seen a different way.

No one wants to go to the dentist, but plenty of people would like nicer teeth.

I’m not sure anyone would want to go and do a workout if there were no benefits to it at all.

No one does it purely for the fun of it, I don’t think.

So if we’re struggling to feel much motivation for “going for a workout”………

Could we reframe it to “doing something fun with like-minded people to make myself feel better immediately and look better longer term?”

If we’re not particularly enthused about “being on a diet”…….

Could we just decide that “I give a sh*t what I put in my body because of how it makes me look and feel”?

It can’t just be about a final destination in the future, as we’d struggle to stay motivated by that.

But it also can’t just be about the next few minutes or hours of the journey.

It can just be an accepted part of what needs to be done to have a body we like the look and feel of and to live a life that we are happy with (it’s www.myrise.co.uk/apply when you’re ready for that)

Much love,
