Second to last “There’s no point……” blog now.

And, again, it’s one that I get.

But it’s also one that I will question.

The feeling there’s no point in carrying on trying when it’s not worked before.

There’s no point trying to lose weight when we’ve lost it before and regained it, for example.

What matters is this;

One step forward, one step back isn’t ideal, sure.

But it’s better than just one (or more) step back.

Periods of progression and regression are better than just regression.

Those forwards steps still put us in a better position than if we hadn’t had them at all.

Losing then gaining weight and being the same or a stone up is better than just being four stone up.

Fluctuating fitness and energy beats a steady decline.

We will always be better off by trying (and trying again) than by not trying.

Up and down beats just down.

The other part of this is about changing the approach.

And that might be partly what we actually do but possibly also more how we think about it and describe it.

Just approaching something in the same way as before will likely lead to the same results.

Maybe tweaking to a knowingly suboptimal version, that we feel we can maintain, will lead to better overall results than that theoretically slightly better version that we’re very stop-start on (If you want this to be the last time you ‘start again’, you know where we are —> www.myrise.co.uk/apply)

That’s working smarter, not harder.

Much love,
