In September, RISE will have been open 10 years.
We’ve rebranded twice (and evolved a lot) but it’s still the same business with me at the helm and members still here from Day One.
In that time several other similar facilities in Macclesfield have come and gone.
Group Training based facilities run by an independent FitPro (or two).
Some very different to us, some exact copies.
But all ‘same end of the spectrum’.
Interestingly, the exact copies did less well than average.
Because, despite what the Facebook ads that I see daily tell me, you can’t copy someone else’s blueprint.
The way we do things at RISE is very much born of me, my style and way of coaching.
Wouldn’t necessarily work for someone else.
Even if they copied it exactly.
The best fitness businesses I know understand the “boxes that need to be ticked” for their business to be successful.
The “framework” to work within.
But they then do that their own way.
And what we do to achieve our health and fitness goals is much the same.
Many FitPros will tell you do what they did / do to get / stay in shape.
And there’s nothing wrong with that.
But it might not be an approach you’re willing or able to take.
Being beholden to a specific method or Blueprint will only help a FitPro get results for clients that are just like them.
A good FitPro helps their clients understand those “boxes that need to be ticked”.
That “framework”.
And helps people find their own way within that.
Doing it in a way that works for them.
Eat in a calorie maintenance or deficit if you’re looking to maintain or lose weight.
Generally aim for more fresh stuff and less processed but don’t beat yourself up and decide you’ve failed if that’s not 100% (which it is rarely is for anyone).
Do some form of progressive exercise that you find enjoyable (or, at least, tolerable). Three times a week or more is nice to aim for but there’s still benefit to two or one.
Maybe get more water and sleep and less alcohol or caffeine, but these aren’t necessarily essential.
Know your ‘framework’.
Make your own choices within that (and, maybe, have some accountability to those choices – www.myrise.co.uk/apply ).
Do it your way.
And it’s way more likely to succeed than following someone else’s “blueprint”.
Much love,
Jon ‘Green Screen’ Hall
