In the last few days of blogs, I’ve mention that we don’t necessarily need to eat breakfast or drink more water in order to get in better shape. And here’s a number of other things that we don’t necessarily need to do;

– Cut out food groups

– Stop snacking

– Stop drinking alcohol

– Only eat fresh food

Many, many times over the years people have questioned this with me. “But, it would be healthier if I did stop drinking and didn’t have any processed food” “Sure” I’ll reply. “But will losing weight and doing regular exercise not make you healthier?”
If someone gets to this time next year and are three stone lighter and have done a couple of hundred workouts………

Is anyone really going to tell me that they won’t be healthier?

Might they have become even healthier still with some additional changes?

Maybe.

But that’s not what usually has been happening up to the the point that we’d had that conversation.

I’ll list below the order of increased health improvement for different options someone could take;

1 – Continue eating and living as we have been and gain weight

2 – Make some changes that could be considered healthy in some ways but maintain current weight and fitness

3 – Make some more tactical adjustments to our eating and living that we’re happy to maintain and lose weight whilst partaking in regular exercise as well

4 – Wholesale changes for the very best results

Option 4 is lovely.

It’s nice to have as something of a ‘North Star’ to guide us.

To know what that looks like to make sure that what we’re doing will take us in the right direction.

And maybe it’s the right answer for some people.

But Option 3 actually done will always beat Option 1 and 2 and a forever deferred Option 4
