So sang Eminem in his first UK number one hit “The Real Slim Shady” back in the year 2000.
I won’t give the next line as your email profanity filters might block it, but feel free to google it if you like if you don’t already know it 😉
Eminem clearly felt (and continues to feel) the need to “cuss in his records”.
And that’s cool.
His music, his choice.
People don’t like it and they don’t have to listen to it or buy it.
And, to be honest, it wouldn’t be all that authentic without.
That’s his style.
Remove some of that and it’d come across a bit vanilla and wouldn’t stand out.
Without the bit that some people don’t like, there might not be much that anyone did.
If we had followed every bit of feedback and suggestion we’ve ever been given as to how we could do things “better” here, then I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t still be here.
We’d have turned into the standard, vanilla FitPro who aims to appeal to everyone but, therefore, doesn’t appeal to anyone.
We don’t have to do things the way we do.
But it’s the way we want to and works for us.
And as long as we hit a few key points (members happy and getting results, bills paid) then how we do it is up to us.
Much like your health / fitness / weight loss journey.
You’ve got to hit a few key points (calorie deficit for weight loss. Frequent, progressive overload for fitness. Both of these, or maintenance, plus sufficient sleep, hydration and nourishment for health) then you can make that happen however you like.
Well meaning people will advise you on the “best” way to do it.
But if you followed every bit of advice you ever got, you probably wouldn’t get anywhere.
Make sure you’re hitting those essentials for your goal……….
And then do it however you see fit 🙂
Much love,
Jon ‘Fresh Prince’ Hall and Matt ‘Bad Boys’ Nicholson
