When I say Woody, I have to mean one of three possible ‘people’.
Harrelson (or Boyd in Cheers), the cowboy from Toy Story or the cartoon Woodpecker.
I mean the woodpecker in this case.
Woodpeckers in general to be honest.
Determined little creatures aren’t they?
Pecking their wood of choice up 20 times per second
For a total of 8,000-12,000 pecks per day
Although they target trees already damaged by the insects they are seeking………
It still takes an awful lot of pecking to get what they want.
Woody and his pals know that 20,000 pecks on one tree will get them better results than 20 pecks on 1,000 different trees.
The same basic thing over and over.
No starting and stopping and starting again.
Not sticking at it long enough to get the results they’re after.
Us humans could learn from the Woodpeckers.
Weight Loss Persistence
We too get worse results by doing a bit on lots of different things.
Trying the latest diet or exercise plan.
Stopping and starting.
Our best results come from finding a small number of effective things and doing them over and over till we get there. Weight loss persistence.
A form of exercise that we enjoy (or, at least, find tolerable) – might be what we do –> We’ll tell you all about it at one of our orientation evenings at RISE in Macclesfield, but we will never give you the hard sell.

Remember, you’ll do better with 20,000 pecks on the same tree than 20 pecks on 1,000 different trees ::)
