I don’t know if it’s a Fitness Industry thing, but I get random people “sliding into my DMs” every now and again.
I guess it happens in lots of occupations and businesses.
People offering to help you achieve some sort of goal.
I’ve had several people DM me recently with the phrase “Would you like to get to 7 figures?”.
The answer, of course, is “Yes”.
Who wouldn’t?
But a quick check of their profile / page usually leads me to doubt that they would be able to get me there.
1. There’s no evidence that they themselves are making 7 figures. Or, if there is, it’s of the easily faked variety (photos getting out of a supercar they’ve clearly hired for a day or at a super fancy hotel they’ve probably just walked into for the pic).
2. Little to no evidence of anyone they’ve helped get there who wasn’t most of the way there already
3. They appear to still live with their mum
4. They’re cold DMing people – something I doubt any 7 figure earners would be doing and that I don’t want to do for my business
5. There’s talk of “hustle” and “embrace the grind” when I’ve already got more than enough on with four kids, the business, etc
The parallel, if you hadn’t guessed, is with what we help people do.
And how to gauge if we (or someone else) are a good fit for getting you the result you desire, without sacrifices you are unwilling to make.
1. They should be personally getting better results than you are now. I’m not getting on the cover of Men’s Health any time soon, but I’m pretty happy with my body, given I’m in my 40s, have four kids and am riddled with injuries.
2. Our walls (and Facebook page) are covered with hundreds of people who’ve achieved considerably better results with us than they ever did by themselves
3. I’ve earned a living and provided for my family for two decades in an industry where most last 18 months
4 and 5. We’re all about “knowingly sub-optimal and done” over “theoretically better but not done” and about creating a balance and living a life that were happy with.
Ours isn’t the only approach, sure.
But, to me, these are the important things to look for when choosing (or continuing with) an approach.
– It has a demonstrable track record of working for people you consider to be like you
– It can help get you the results you desire without the sacrifices you’re unwilling to make (cough ** us for both ** cough –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply) .
Much love,
Jon ‘7 bamboos’ Hall
P.S. Mah Johg reference for the middle name there. The wife and I have just started playing it and I am currently undefeated (after two games).
