Imagine you were enquiring about the result of a game of sport.
Your favourite football team have just played.
You child has come back from representing the school.
That kinda thing.
“What was the score?” you might enquire.
“There were some goals” come the reply.
“How many?” you’d, presumably, want to know.
Because goals without numbers are pretty much irrelevant.
Or, at least, aren’t enough.
And it’s the same with the goals we set.
Without some numbers attached, it’s not “enough”.
How much weight do we want to lose?
How much money do we want / need?
What measure of fitter, faster, stronger, more flexible, more confident, etc will let us know we’re making the progress we’d like?
What processes would lead to the goal, how many and / or how frequently?
An average 500 calorie a day deficit for 3 months?
20 workouts in two months?
A certain amount of ‘things’ done at work or in our business?
With six more numbers marking the time frame.
A date.
When these thing will be done.
For a goal without numbers and a deadline is just a dream.
Much love,
Jon ‘den goal’ Hall
