Who likes being uncomfortable?
Hands up.
Anyone?
I should imagine, when phrased like that, no one said “yes”.
A huge realisation that we can make though is………
That we can’t stop discomfort……..
We can just choose our ‘type’.
We can choose the type that can inspire and energize you…….
Or the type that drains you.
We can choose acute discomfort.
Or chronic discomfort.
The short term, but relatively low discomfort of going for a workout.
Or making a better food choice.
Or going to bed a bit earlier.
Or spending a bit of time sorting some food for later in the week.
Or we can choose the long term, chronic discomfort of a body we don’t like the look at feel of.
That has less energy and gets tired more easily than we’d like.
That can affect our mood and how we are with people.
That is more likely to develop various issues and complications.
We can’t choose whether we have discomfort in our lives.
Just the type it is.
Short term, acute, inspiring and energizing.
Or long term, chronic and draining.
“Neither” isn’t an option.
“Neither” is the latter by default.

Much love,
Jon ‘I’ve got a great (and slightly relevant) joke about two guys that go to a “mood party” naked except for a pear and some custard which I will tell you if you see me out in town and ask’ Hall
