I mentioned in Saturday’s blog that we can’t avoid discomfort.
Much as we’d like to.
And how avoiding short term discomfort creates greater long term, greater discomfort.
Chronicle discomfort comes, in part, from avoiding acute discomfort
If we avoid the short term discomfort of exercise we create the greater long term discomfort of a body that we don’t like the look and feel of.
If we avoid the short term discomfort of making better food choices we create the greater long term discomfort of weight gain and it’s associated challenges.
If we avoid the short term discomfort of those uncomfortable conversations with our partner we create the greater long term discomfort of a worse relationship.
If we avoid the short term discomfort of dealing with our kids’ behaviour we create the greater long term discomfort of worse behaviour in them.
If we avoid the short term discomfort of tackling those difficult problems at work we create the greater long term discomfort dealing with the mess it creates.
If we avoid the short term discomfort of challenging ourselves and taking risks we create the greater long term discomfort of a job or business that isn’t what we want.
And so on.
We can’t avoid discomfort.
We can just, to a degree, choose which type we have – we can help make that acute discomfort as enjoyable as possible and massively minimise that long term discomfort –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply .
Much love,
