Go into a Sauna and what happens?

——– Other ways of getting hot are available ———–

After a while you’ll start to sweat.

You don’t choose to sweat though do you?

Your body does its automatically.

It adapts to the environment.

You don’t have a choice.

And it’s not just our ‘physical’ that reacts to that environment.

Our ‘meta physical’ does the same.

Our mind and the actions, habits and results it controls.

Maybe takes a little longer.

We can use willpower to slow that change.

But it happens.

I can quite easily go a few weeks without eating any cake.

But if I was surrounded by it every day, it definitely wouldn’t be that long.

Especially if everyone around me was eating cake all the time.

I could force myself not to have it to start with.

But I know I would soon settle into the average of those ‘cake eaters’

To go for a much stronger example, I’ve never tried heroin or felt the need to.

But if I lived in a household of regular heroin users (like Renton and pals in Trainspotting) it might be a different situation.

Everyone we hang out with doesn’t exercise?

We’ll probably, over time, become a non exerciser.

Everyone we hang out with drinks?

We’ll probably, over time, drink the average of them.

Everyone we hang out with carrying extra weight?

We’ll probably, over time, end up about an average of those body fat levels.

What we see and hear at home and work tempt us to behave in a certain way?

We’ll probably end up behaving that way.

The media (conventional and otherwise) we consume tell us how bad everything is in the world and we’ll soon feel that way.

Our environment plays a more important part in what we do than we often realise.

And adjusting that environment to serve, rather than hinder, us can help massively.

Don’t see or hear people talk about those things as much as we’ll probably do them less.

Add people into our peer group who are eating well, exercising regularly and achieving results……….

And we’ll move more towards that average.

That could be by getting involved in what we do at RISE.

Either by joining us.

Or, if you’ve already joined, ‘engaging’ more.

Immersing ourselves in that environment more.

More sessions, maybe?

Talking to coaches and other ninjas in those sessions more?

More interaction in the group perhaps?

Our body doesn’t chose to sweat.

And our mind reacts automatically to it’s environment too.

What it’s immersed in.

What enters our thoughts via our eyes and ears.

What we see, who we interact with and listen to.

Chose that environment wisely 🙂

Much love,
