Remember when you used to bring the school report home?
Which result always got the biggest reaction?
The worst one, I’d imagine.
If you’d gotten 8 As and 1 C I bet there would’ve been a moment along the lines of “What happened with the C?”.
Or similar if it had been 8 Cs and one F.
It’s human nature.
Problem focus.
Or “Bad is stronger than good”.
The thing is though, we’re never going to be equally good at everything.
We’ll always have things that could be seen as ‘less good’.
But how much do our results improve by if we focus entirely on repairing these little chinks in our armour?
Versus supercharging our biggest weaponry?
If you’d got 8Cs and one F………..
It might be that the effort required to make it 9Cs…………
Could be used to make it 8Bs and one F.
Which is, of course, miles better.
So, if there’s aspects of what you’r doing that you struggle with………..
Focus on further improving the bits you find relatively easy.
Don’t completely stop with your ‘equivalent to the F’.
But get it to a good enough stage and keep it there.
Then work on the other stuff.
If you genuinely feel you have to have chocolate everyday……….
Then have enough to satisfy that feeling.
You’d get way more benefit from putting the same energy it would take to go without chocolate………..
Into further improving, say, your workouts, meals and hydration.
Or similar with whatever you’re struggling with.
Don’t give up the F completely (ie: don’t go for 10 bars of chocolate or a whole cake)………
But turn those Cs into Bs for a greater win 🙂
