There’s been countless times over the years……

When we’ve been chatting to someone…….

And a short, sharp shock of a response from us……..

Has instantly helped them see through the self limiting beliefs that have been holding them back.

Sometimes, you have to be cruel to be kind.

The following is an approximation of a conversation we’ve had with dozens of people:

Person: “I don’t want to be fat”

Us: “Yes you do”

Person: “What? Of course I don’t”

Us: “You must do – you’ve spent years working on it. Thousands of hours. Every time you faced a choice between something that would make you fatter and something that would make you slimmer, you usually chose fatter. You must want to be fat really bad to put that much effort into it. Or at least you must want cake, cereal, biscuits, etc more than you want to be slim.”

You can usually see the penny drop.

Of course, we know they don’t really want to fat.

We’re not daft, you know?

But it makes you think, doesn’t it?

Makes you think about what you really want.

And what you don’t.

They say you should judge someone on their actions, not their words.

If your actions are taking you away from what you say you want……..

Then there’s a disconnect there somewhere.

Often it’s the thought process that you should be able to have both.

Eat / live this way and still get slim and healthy.

If it hasn’t been happening, then you clearly can’t.

Accept that now.

Is one or the other.

Cake OR slim (cake being a catch all for all unhealthy eating there).

Not both.

When faced with the choice, take those two seconds to stop and ask yourself what you really want.

That’s often all it takes.

We know no one really wants to be fat.

But a sharp reply like that can often help people question what’s going on.

Much love,
