A fairly regular part of what we do is have conversations with people about why they’ve been struggling to make the changes that they’d, ideally, like to make.

You know – exercising, changes to their eating, etc.

Sometimes our perceived challenges are more ‘logistical’.

We feel we’ve been “too busy”, etc.

Sometimes it’s more about how we “feel” about certain things.

One thing people sometimes express about their challenges with exercising regularly is that “Maybe I’m just too lazy”.

I’d dispute this usually.

Most people I’ve met who consider themselves to be “lazy” for not exercising, put phenomenal amounts of effort into other areas of their lives.

But that’s a separate point.

What I will question here is, if we are actually lazy, how much sense it really makes to avoid exercise.

I know that when I don’t exercise, my energy levels across the rest of the day are significantly reduced.

Everything else is much harder.

A handful of hours effort a week to make the other 100+ much easier.

Laziness would be wanting to expend less effort overall.

Not exercising increases the total effort required to live the life we desire (check www.myrise.co.uk/apply if you’ve not been living the life you’d like and are willing to invest a little time, energy and money in making that happen).

When we stop seeing exercise as an “energy cost”……….

And reframe it to an “energy investment”………..

We can choose to exercise BECUASE we’re lazy.

Much love,
