In my house I act as a bit of a ‘garbage disposal’.

My breakfasts particularly are often a mixture of left overs and things that need eating up.

Doesn’t always resemble a meal, sure.

But does the job – gets me what I need and saves time and wasting food.

The other day my wife was commenting on it.

And a light bulb went off over my head at something she said.

“You’re really good at eating bits up” she said. “I’m not”.

I realised that it’s not that she isn’t good at it.

She just doesn’t do it.

When you’re “not good” at something that’s when you do it and you can only do it less well than most or than you’d like.

Like I’m not good at singing (getting better through lessons though).

I do sing.

Just not very well.

Control Your Weight Loss

Thinking that we are “not very good” at something is another self limiting belief.

When we say “I’m not very good at saying no to biscuits at work” that’s not actually true.

Being not good at that would mean we said no but somehow did it badly.

Maybe said no in German by accident and they gave us nine biscuits 😉

What’s actually happened is that we’ve just chosen to not say no.

Which is our prerogative.

Just like it’s my wife’s prerogative to not want to eat up random combinations of leftovers.

Anytime we say we’re not very good at saying no to something………..

Or at stopping when we’ve started……….

Or at doing something when we’re jut not doing it………..

We’re taking away our power.

Making it just something that is the way it is.

That we have no control over.

When we change that to “I just choose when to eat cake or not” ……….

#### Remember, I use cake as a ‘catch all’ term for anything we think is derailing us from our goal. Cake isn’t fundamentally bad ####

Or “I chose to drink all that alcohol”……….

Or “I’m just choosing not to exercise”…………

And so………….

We put ourselves back in power (check details of how to join RISE in Macclesfield if you’re ready to put yourself back in power and control). You can control your weight loss.

We may still make the same choice.

But, over time, chances are we’ll make some better ones.

Much love,
