If there’s one thing I’ve noticed after over 20 years in the fitness industry……..
It’s that the more other people are intertwined into a person’s goals……..
The more likely they are to achieve them.
If a goal is purely about how we look or how we feel……..
Then it’s easy to lose motivation and enthusiasm for what needs to be done.
There’s nothing wrong with goals purely for our own benefits, of course.
And some of them will happen.
But if those goals haven’t happened before, they’re unlikely to now without changing approach.
If nothing changes, nothing changes.
The more it becomes about those that we care about, the more motivating that can be.
The reasons that we gave for not being able to get in better shape can become reasons TO get in better shape.
We want more energy, focus patience and enthusiasm for the roles that are important in our lives.
Being a better partner, parent, friend, employee, business owner, etc.
When we lose inspiration for a goal, we are often thinking too much about ourselves.
And not enough about the others that it benefits.
The King eats first, not because the King is hungry, but because the King wants to be a better King.
As always, no right or wrong.
But if you’ve been struggling with motivation and enthusiasm to achieve a goal………
Question how much the benefits of that goal have been purely about yourself.
And question if we can make it more about others as well.
Much love,
Jon ‘My middle names are the current and next King’ Hall
