As part of the Coaching Programme I’m part of (remember, beware the coach who doesn’t have a coach), I fill in a daily planner and journal.

Helps me structure my day, week, month and life in general most effectively.

And helps me challenge my thoughts and get my head in the place that sets me up for success.

Sometimes I get out of the habit of using the planner for a while.

And things start to slip a little.

Essentially, I’m just trying to do the same stuff “in my head”.

Which we never make quite as good a job of.

It’s fine………

Until it isn’t.

If we’re 100% happy with the results of “doing it in our head”, then that’s cool.

If we’re not, then something a bit more structured, might help.

I find that the less I try and “do in my head”, the easier life gets.

And the less I try and “remember” the less stuff I “forget”.

Less “mental notes” and more physical ones means more is actually noted.

The more I get things down into a trusted system, the better.

Over the next few days, I’ll cover some of the reasons we don’t like to plan,

It’s probably not what we’re telling ourselves that “I like a bit of freedom. Flexibility”.

If anything, it’s the exact opposite.

Much love,

Jon ‘Head bag’ Hall
