💡💡💡

I recently got a letter in the post.

Usual place to get them, I know.

With an invite code for the Nextdoor app.

Which you can use to communicate with those in your neighbourhood.

Funnily enough the first post I saw was from a lady who’d had her clothes ripped by a dog in the local park that morning.

Which I’d coincidently seen happen from the opposite side of the park.

I get email notifications for new posts.

But, I’ll be honest, I haven’t read any since that first one.

Until today.

Because of the subject line.

“3 Legged Cat!”

Piqued my interest it did.

So I checked it out.

Which is the purpose of a good subject line.

It’s not to tell you what the email is about as such.

It’s to make you want to open the email and have a look.

A good fiction author knows that the purpose of a good chapter is to make you want to read the next one.

And we know that the purpose of a good workout is to make you want to do another.

Part of that will be it being ‘effective’, of course.

But if you didn’t enjoy it and didn’t want to do it again, that would be fairly pointless.

Hundreds of 80% effective workouts that you enjoy and do………

Will always beat, hands down, three 100% effective workouts that you hate and don’t keep up.

And, the purpose of a good food choice is to make you want to do another one.

If you see it as restriction, boredom, a ‘pain in the arse, etc………….

You won’t really want to do it again.

Hundreds of ‘good enough’ food choices that you do………..

Will always beat, hands down, three ‘perfect’ food choices that you hate and don’t keep up.

Ultimately, if the average of your day and week puts you in calorie maintenance or deficit………..

And you can keep doing that……….

That’s going to be way better than beating yourself up over “healthy eating” or “good” or “bad” or “naughty” foods……….

And ending up eating in a surplus.

Do the best version of something that you’re happy to maintain, on average, over time.

Speed up and slow down with that, of course.

But you never need to ‘stop’.

Much love,

Jon ‘Tripod’ Hall

P.S. The new info for the next find out more meeting for the February programme is up now at myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting if you missed out this month.
