You recognise that line?

From Rudyard Kipling’s poem ‘If’:

“If you can fill the unforgiving minute…………..

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run………..

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it!”

Which I love.

Because it’s what we do in those ‘unforgiving’ minutes that often make the difference.

When things our going our way, it’s relatively easy to do what needs to be done to achieve our goals.

It’s when things go a bit ‘Pete Tong’ that it can start to fall apart a bit.

I jotted this idea (and 5 others) for a blog on a bit of till receipt paper when I had to take the kids out for breakfast and wait an hour after my wife accidentally got on her train with my house keys.

They watched a film on my phone, I came up with blog ideas.

I’m writing it on the train back from Durham after I had to go their to sort my eldest son’s passport out last minute (always carry something I can write blogs on).

Both could have been a waste of time.

But, even if it wasn’t the full ’60 seconds’ of distance ran, it was definitely a good 40 plus when it could be have been zero.

If we look to fill that ‘unforgiving minute’ with as much ‘distance ran’ as possible…………..

That ‘distance’ will add up.

Unexpectedly can’t make your planned workout?

A run, home workout, stretch, etc will give you some of that ‘distance’?

Eating plans go a bit awry?

Make the best choices you can under the circumstances.

Or, at least, better ones than you could’ve.

And it doesn’t all need to be ‘stuff’.

Relaxation and rest are integral.

They can be part of that distance.

But, those unforgiving minutes are going to keep coming.

Finding a way to get (as close as possible to) ’60 seconds worth of distance run’ when they happen…………..

—————— Clicking this link to book in for our find out more meeting next Tuesday will be about the best, most life changing 60 seconds you, or a friend, can spend –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting ————–

And not standing still or walking backwards………….

Is what will get us to our goals 🙂

Much love,
